wget — Download Files

wget is designed for downloading files. It supports resuming, recursive downloads, and works without a TTY.

Basic download

wget https://example.com/file.zip
wget -O myfile.zip https://example.com/file.zip   # Custom name

Resume interrupted download

wget -c https://example.com/bigfile.zip    # Continue download

Download in background

wget -b https://example.com/file.zip
tail -f wget-log                           # Monitor progress

Download multiple files

wget -i urls.txt           # File containing list of URLs

Mirror a website

wget -r -l2 https://example.com   # Recursive, 2 levels deep

Quiet mode

wget -q https://example.com/file.zip   # No output
